About Freemasonry

This series of pages borrows heavily from the web site of the United Grand Lodge of England.

The information is largely repeated here, and not linked, because it has been modified slightly to account for the small differences in detail between the practices and customs in Victoria and those in England.

While Freemasonry is practiced in most parts of the world and the essential tenets and practices are fundamentally the same, each jurisdiction, under its own, sovereign Grand Lodge, has some unique aspects.

Where necessary, the information presented here relates specifically to Freemasonry as it is practiced in our Lodge and under the jurisdiction of the United Grand Lodge of Victoria.
